No. The Legacy Campus is open to high school students across the district on a part-time basis.  Students will maintain a primary line of enrollment and the majority of their classes at their primary high school.

Because students who take classes at the DCSD Legacy Campus only take one to two classes per semester and still take the majority of their classes at their primary high school, it is imperative that students work closely with their primary high school counselor to request courses and ensure they are on-track for graduation.

Many pathways require a "double-blocked" class in order for students to complete the required instructional minutes. Because of this, students will see some classes that require back-to-back or combined class periods. Pathway applications will ask students to make their first choice for AM or PM courses or fall or spring courses, but we cannot always adjust when classes are offered. Friday classes will be held remotely/virtually. Attendance in class is critical as many courses are lab-based and cannot be recreated.

Courses are open to all 11th and 12th grade DCSD students, unless indicated by course (i.e. CNA and EMT pathways are only
open to 12th grade students). This includes students at DCSD neighborhood and alternative high schools and Cloverleaf
Enrichment School. Students who attend private schools, charter schools, or are outside of DCSD (including homeschool) may
also apply after a service agreement contract is in place with DCSD, if spots are available.

Students should be in good standing academically and be on-track to graduate by accumulating the necessary high school
credits. Pathway selection should reflect a student's current career goals and strengths. Career and interest inventories such
as those available in Naviance can be utilized to help guide students.

Students who are interested in receiving concurrent enrollment or dual enrollment credit and industry certifications that will provide readiness for military, trade and technical schools, and post-secondary colleges and universities will greatly benefit from the opportunities provided at the DCSD Legacy Campus. Also, students who are uncertain about their post-secondary plan and want to explore their interests and develop their understanding and skills in a variety of fields of study.

Pathway applications are open in January to attend the following school year. Students must complete applications AND meet with their primary high school counselor to discuss additional registration requirements. Visit our Student Application page for more information. 

Students who have a valid driver’s license may drive themselves.   DCSD also provides student transportation from their primary high school
to the Legacy Campus. Buses/vans run routes to and from primary high schools before school, midday, and after school. There is currently NO FEE for DCSD-provided transportation and NO PARKING FEE if students provide their own transportation.

Some concurrent enrollment or dual enrollment classes do have prerequisites, but not all. Find specific information on each pathway program page or in the course guide.

There is no cost for attending classes at Legacy Campus, but some classes have required course fees to offset classroom supplies and consumables. In addition, work/textbooks and uniforms may be required. College credit is available for a reduced tuition rate or no cost (varies by pathway). The CNA pathway is completed in one semester (18 weeks) and offered both fall and spring semesters.  EMT is completed in two semesters (one school year).  All other pathways offer one and two year options.  All align with the DCSD high school calendars.  See the course guide for more details.

All thirteen pathways offer industry certifications and college credit options.

Yes. Some classes at Legacy are “double-blocked” which means that two block period classes are combined for one course. Some classes are a single-block period on the DCSD compatible block schedule. Students will attend classes at the Legacy Campus two days a week (either M/W or T/Th).  The Friday schedule is an asynchronous day and Legacy Campus classes will be virtual.

For your student to fully participate in the classroom learning environment, they will need to bring a minimum of a Chromebook-level device with them daily. The DCSD student-technology BYOD policy allows students to bring and use their personal laptops at school or during online learning. To be compatible with classroom or online learning, the device must be able to connect to the DCSD secure wireless network. Students will use their devices in the classroom or online learning to access and save information from the Internet, collaborate with other learners, and utilize the productivity tools, such as Google Classroom and Canvas, that are available to them. Devices should have the following minimum specifications: Chromebook, 4GB Ram 16GB HD, 128GB Memory.

Most pathways begin in the fall, but some classes may have openings in the spring. Registration always occurs in January of the year prior, and late requests may be placed on a waitlist. See the complete course guide and application for registration information.

Yes. Phase II is under construction and will add four new pathways that will allow students to gain content knowledge, experience and certifications in high demand industries. For the 26-27 school year we will be adding Advanced Manufacturing - Aerospace, Automotive Tech - EV/Hybrid, Electrical Technology, and Construction Trades Pathways. The DCSD Legacy Campus has a full-time School Resource Officer (SRO) and DCSD security personnel on campus. All visitors to the campus will be required to check in and wear student/staff IDs.

Yes.  Individualized Education Plans, 504 plans, English Language Development plans and Advanced Learning Plans are upheld in all classes in DCSD, including classes at Legacy Campus. The campus is an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant building. The building contains handicap accessible doors, parking, bathrooms, and elevators.
