DECEMBER 2022

A Message from the Director:

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR:

It is with great excitement that I introduce one of our district’s newest endeavors, the DCSD Legacy Campus. I am so pleased to be a part of this exciting project, as it represents so much that is right with education, with our district, and with our connection to higher education, industry, and our community.

My name is Rex Corr and I have the great honor of serving as director for this beautiful campus. As a longtime member of the DCSD family, having served for the last several years as principal of Castle View High School, I am pleased to share what Legacy is and what we will aim to provide for our students, community, and our economy.

The DCSD Legacy Campus is a secondary and postsecondary learning environment and, starting in August of 2023, will serve both high school and college students. Our pathways will provide real-world, Career and Technical learning experiences in which students will be afforded the opportunity to earn industry certifications- and explore, experience, and deepen their learning in focused pathways - preparing them for the world of work, the military, technical and trade schools, colleges and universities.

To put it simply, we will strive to “connect passion to pathway” - we will endeavor to provide our students with a competitive advantage as we prepare them for their futures. Now, we won’t accomplish this work alone. We are thrilled to welcome the ongoing presence of our partners at the University of Colorado, University of Colorado Denver, Arapahoe Community College, Metropolitan State University, and the University of Denver on this campus. These partnerships will, no doubt, provide incredible opportunities for students.

--- PATHWAY HIGHLIGHT ---

AVIATION PATHWAY

DCSD is partnering with Metro State University to offer students a pathway in aviation where students can earn college credit through dual enrollment and work toward a Professional Flight Officer Concentration. This concentration is designed for those planning a career as a professional pilot or interested in learning more about aviation. Students will get time in professional flight simulators and can compliment course work with independent flight time with local industry partners.
