Aviation/Transportation

The Pathway

DCSD is partnering with Metro State University to offer students a pathway in aviation where students can earn college credit through dual enrollment and work toward a Professional Flight Officer Concentration. This concentration is designed for those planning a career as a professional pilot or interested in learning more about aviation. Students will get time in professional flight simulators and can compliment course work with independent flight time with local industry partners.

Applications for the 24-25 school year are now closed
If space is available in a specific pathway we will reopen the application after April 1st, for a 2nd round of application submissions.

The Instructors

Recommended Learning Sequence 2024-2025

Aviation Recommended Learning Sequence

Students should register for both semesters if pursuing the MSU Private Pilot Concentration. However, students can also take Fundamentals alone, or work on their flight hours independently before completing the sequence.

Aviation Recommended Learning Sequence

Students need to complete their solo cross-country flight (to be completed at an outside flight training center) to be eligible for continuation onto MSU’s degree program (i.e. the next courses such as AES 2120). As part of their year 2 application, students MUST complete a statement of intent for their plan to complete their solo cross-country flight prior to graduation. This is so that students are prepared to enter MSU’s Part 141 Restricted ATP program. MSU strongly recommends Private Pilate Completion (FAA) if possible, but this is not required.
