Amy has been teaching and leading in the Douglas County School District for 25 years. With a Master's degree in Education and a CTE certification in Education and Training, she is qualified and excited to teach the courses offered in the Future Educator pathway. As a classroom teacher, Amy has had years of experience teaching a variety of courses in the social science field including a decade of team teaching with Language Arts colleagues in a fully integrated Humanities classroom. Over the last 9 years, she has served as a Professional Learning Specialist which tapped into her talent for connecting with new and experienced teachers, coaching teachers on all aspects of teaching, supporting teachers through the most trying of times, and celebrating with teachers as they make an impact on students every day. These experiences have affirmed her deep passion for education - coaching and supporting educators and those that want to begin a pathway in this profession.

Amy has been honored to receive several Teacher Appreciation Awards from her students over the years and was a past Douglas County Apple Award Representative for Eagle Academy. Her innovative lesson plans were published by the XCEL Energy Classroom Connections Foundation. She also partnered with educators from around the state and the Colorado Department of Education to construct high-quality instructional units for teachers of Economics in the state of Colorado. Amy is excited to work with the next generation of educators and truly help them learn about this rewarding field.

 Patrick Campbell

Mr. Campbell has been teaching high school English and special education for eleven years. After earning a Master's degree in Special Education from the University of Pittsburgh, Patrick relocated to Colorado to start his teaching career. Working with aspiring teachers has always been a point of passion, and he is thrilled for the opportunity to work with the Future Educator pathway at the Legacy Campus. Over the past eleven years, Patrick has taught a wide variety of English classes to all high school grade levels. He takes pride in ensuring that all of his students have equitable access to education in an inclusive setting.

When not teaching classes about special education to the Future Educator students, Mr. Campbell spends his time supporting students with diverse learning needs across all nine pathways at Legacy. He relishes the opportunity to help students who are interested in Career and Technical Education. Outside of Legacy, Patrick is most likely to spend his time skiing, reading, cooking, golfing, and coaching hockey.

 Ryan McClintock, Ed.D.

 Dr. McClintock has been an educator with the Douglas County School District (DCSD) since 2007. Prior to this, he was with the   Placentia-Yorba Linda School district in Southern California from 2000-2007. Ryan has served as a science teacher, learning specialist & instructional coach, facilitator of gifted education, technology coordinator, and school administrator. He has also served as an adjunct professor with the University of Denver’s Teacher Education Program.

Ryan received his doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Denver and master’s degree in Information & Learning Technology from the University of Colorado, Denver. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from California State University, Fullerton.

Ryan has a passion for guiding and mentoring new teachers into the field of education. He’s excited to “Grow Our Own” current DCSD students into future highly skilled, passionate, nurturing, and visionary DCSD educators.

Dr. McClintock teaches the Digital Teaching & Learning and STEM Methods courses.

Katie O'Sullivan

Katie O'Sullivan is a Colorado native who has taught in districts along the front range for 18 years. She has a Master's in Teaching (MAT), a Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and a CTE certification in Education and Training. Beginning her career in elementary education, Katie has many years in the classroom teaching grade level classes as well as technology and STEAM. In recent years she's been a specialist teaching Multilingual Learners (ML) from preschool to adults

Teaching at the university level is another of Katie's passions. She has served as a graduate and undergraduate teacher at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and is excited to join Legacy as the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) course instructor. Katie is truly thrilled to share the joys of teaching diverse student populations with future teachers. When not teaching in the Future Ed pathway, she also supports ML students at other high schools in DCSD.

Jean retired from the Douglas County School District in June of 2023 after 35 years in education, all in Douglas County.  She taught kindergarten, first grade and fourth grade, before becoming an Assistant Principal and then the Principal at Heritage Elementary School in Highlands Ranch.  She loves being a part of the DCSD and is so happy to now work with our high school students around the district who are interested in becoming educators.

She had two daughters her oldest, Hannah, is a school nurse in Douglas County, and her youngest, Karlee, is working towards an early childhood degree and is currently a preschool teacher.  She has one grandson, Harrison whom she watches twice a week and loves spending time with.  Her husband is semi-retired and together they love to travel.  She feels fortunate to work at the Legacy Campus with the Future Educator Program as the field placement advisor.

CTE EDUCATION EXPLORATION

Education Exploration is a semester course designed to provide students with an overview of professions within

education. Students will discover their own learning style and how learning styles impact teaching and the delivery of

lessons. Experiences with various education professionals will enhance the understanding of classroom planning,

licensure requirements, and career opportunities within school systems.

Students learn the dispositions of a community-grounded educator and develop an asset-based lens for working with

students, families, and communities through required field experience and a mediated seminar. This course requires

the student to be placed at a DCSD elementary or middle school for observation hours. Students will be required to

provide their own transportation to and from observation hours.

This course will introduce Universal Design for Learning (UDL), an important, contemporary educational philosophy,

with an emphasis in a set of principles & techniques that focus on strategies and tools to help ALL students by

information about children with disabilities who are included in today's classroom.
