Message from the Directors:

Happy December! We can't believe how quickly this semester has gone by and all the amazing things our students are doing! In just one month we will be adding new students and starting new courses.

We have a few big announcements in this newsletter- first and foremost is our FIRST ANNUAL LEGACY CAMPUS SHOWCASE NIGHT coming up this Wednesday on the 6th. This night is for parents of our current students AND prospective parents/students. We will start with a registration information session for rising juniors and seniors (current 10th and 11th grade) from 6:00-6:30PM. Following that, we will hold our showcase from 6:30-7:30PM where each of our pathways will demonstrate the equipment and skills students acquire at the Legacy Campus. We expect a full house! Students should coordinate with their teachers about what time to arrive to set up.

Secondly, with final exams right around the corner we want to be clear that the DCSD Legacy Campus will maintain our FULL DAY bell schedule during finals week (not half days like many of our primary high schools). Please see the schedule below. All classes will have the first day of finals IN-PERSON and the second class ASYNCHRONOUSLY. All students must still participate in both parts. We know this can be a stressful time for many students and we have tried to generate a schedule with the least amount of conflicts for our students. If students have a conflict with their final exam schedule, please have them work with their teachers to schedule a make up.

We have also started fielding questions on applications and registration for next year. The application timeline will begin in January to coincide with the registration process at each of our high schools. We are happy to announce that you can now see the full 2024-2025 LEGACY CAMPUS COURSE GUIDE on our website. Current juniors attending the Legacy Campus will have an application for year 2 classes (which their teachers will be sharing in the new year). Full directions on requesting courses will be forthcoming, but students and families can now preview the courses we will offer.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday night!

Coat and Toy Drive

We are collecting adult and children's coats for those in need. You can also bring new, unwrapped toys that will be shared with families at Children's Hospital this holiday season.

If you would like to participate, please drop off items at one of the red boxes near our Welcome desk or in the hallway by the Cafe.

DCSD 8th Grade Career Expo

Nearly 2,000 students from across our school district attended the 13th annual 8th Grade Career Expo at the Legacy Campus on November 10th. This event, hosted by the Foundation for Douglas County Schools, provided 8th-grade students the opportunity to visit with over 40+ employers and Pathway Directors to explore multiple career options.

Finals Week

We will run our regular Legacy schedule on Monday and Tuesday IN-PERSON and have asynchronous portions of our finals submitted on Wednesday and Thursday. All students must complete both sessions. Here is a copy of our new finals schedule

DCSD-provided van transportation to and from the Legacy Campus will run on normal route times on Monday 12/18 and Tuesday 12/19. There will not be transportation on W/Th/F.

Cafe Weekly Specials

The Bridge students are doing a great job in the cafe! New items have been added to the menu as well as weekly specials. The cafe is open to the community, so grab a friend and stop in for a treat!

Legacy Merchandise

We now have hoodies and hats in stock, stop by the welcome desk to purchase and take home today.

These items make great gifts!

Safe2Tell

As students often know safety and mental health concerns about their peers before adults, it’s important that you speak up. If your desire is to protect, prevent, or help, make a report to Safe2Tell.org. We are here to support you and your safety.

Career Corner

SME Education Foundation - Scholarship Opportunity

SME supports the next generation of manufacturing and engineering talent by awarding scholarships to high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students with degrees in manufacturing or engineering every year. Many Legacy Campus students are uniquely qualified to apply for this, as they will already have college credits in this exact field on their high school transcript.

Legacy Campus Guest Speaker

We are thankful that Arnel Manalo took time out of his schedule to visit our Secure Network Technology class as a guest speaker. He shared his knowledge of nearly two decades of progressive IT and cybersecurity experience with our students.
