Evaluates design environments both physical and theoretical. Students will be encouraged to consider how social and individual behavior is reflected in and influenced by these designed environments. Through exploration of assigned readings and movies, the student will critically assess how design influences our perception of the built environment that surrounds us and the design theory behind it.

Interpret construction prints and the related documents produced by the residential or commercial architect and used in the construction industry.

Focuses on basic computer aided drafting skills using the AutoCAD software. Includes file management, Cartesian coordinate system & dynamic input, drawing templates, drawing aids, linetype and lineweights, layer usage, drawing & editing geometric objects, polylines & splines, array, text applications, creating tables, and basic dimensioning.

Introduces graphic concepts to architectural students and develops graphic design techniques and rendering using pencil, ink, and color media. Both freehand and mechanical methods are stressed. Student will be able to produce architectural presentations

Introduces students to the AutoDesk Revit Architecture software. Examines the Building Information Modeling approach to 2D and 3D architectural construction documents. Students can create floor plans, elevations, sections, 3D models, perspective renderings, and animations with this software application.

Spring Semester

ACC AEC 1250 Architectural Design and Modeling (double-blocked)

Prerequisite: Demonstrate college readiness in English & Math.

Course fee: Approx. $35

Introduces students to conceptual architectural design through manual drafting techniques including a variety of multiview projection, isometric projects, and architecture details. The student will be required to produce a combination of manually drafted drawings, CAD drawings, and physical models. Students will develop and present a design solution and evaluation of the assigned program through conceptual models and architectural drawings.

CTE Drafting & Design WBL (Internship)

 Sarah has enjoyed a long career in the field of architecture, beginning with her undergraduate degree from Miami     University   in Oxford, Ohio and work experience with large architecture firms specializing in the healthcare, retail and   education sectors.   Upon completing her Master of Architecture degree from University of Colorado at Denver, she pivoted   her direction to expand her building code knowledge by becoming the residential and commercial Plans Examiner for a local municipality.

She is a Colorado licensed architect, a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and formerly registered with the National Council of Architect Registration Boards (NCARB). Sarah has spent the majority of her career working her way up to become a Principal in an award-winning design firm in Denver focused on corporate office design. She recently returned from a month in Italy experiencing the art and architecture of the ancient Romans and the masters of the Renaissance. Her creative design sense, building code expertise and construction knowledge are all aspects of architecture that she is excited to share with her students in the Architecture Pathway at Legacy Campus.

  Anthony brings 21 years of experience in education, including 17 years previously with Douglas County School District and, most    recently, four years with the Bennett School District. Anthony holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and       multiple CTE endorsements, including Architecture and Construction, Transportation, Manufacturing and Repair, and Work-Based Learning Coordinator. Anthony has taught a range of CTE subjects at both the middle and high school levels, including Automotive Technology, Electricity, Electronics, Woodworking, Construction, Metalworking, and Welding.

Anthony has been honored to receive multiple Teacher Appreciation Awards from students and colleagues and was previously recognized as a Douglas County High School Apple Award Representative. His goal is to bring relevant, up-to-date industry knowledge into the classroom, equipping students with the skills and experience needed to thrive in their chosen career pathways.
